Foam Scrap Recycling: How Waste Foam Becomes Rebond

Foam scrap is not waste. It is a raw material with a grade, a bale weight and a buyer. Where Foam Scrap Comes From

Scrap is generated at the point of cutting, not at the point of sale. The main streams in this trade are:

• PU foam offcuts and trim from block cutting, contour cutting and lamination
• Dali skin foam
• Memory visco (memory foam) scrap from mattress and pillow lines
• Hi-Poly shoe foam scrap at 50-60 density
• Crushed fabric bra foam scrap
• Filter foam scrap
• Old used foam recovered from end-of-life products

Each stream behaves differently in sorting, baling and rebonding, so they are generally handled separately rather than mixed into one pile.

Sorting by Grade and Skin Content

Grade is the first decision in the loop, and skin content drives it. Skin is the denser outer layer of a foam block; the more skin left on the scrap, the more the material behaves differently from clean interior foam.

• Grade AA — around 5% skin, or 0-skin versions; density 20-30kg/m3
• Grade A — available as 5% skin and 15% skin versions
• Grade B — around 15% skin

Grade AA (around 5% skin or 0-skin versions, density 20-30kg/m3) sits at the top of the range. Grade selection should follow the end product you are building, not the label alone. Color can be sorted at the same time: black, white or mixed. Mixing colors in a bale can be difficult to reverse, so color is best decided before baling. Baling and Shipping

Loose scrap is bulky and expensive to move. Baling turns it into a shippable unit. Our listed figures:

What the Rebonded Block Becomes

Rebonded foam is positioned as a direct replacement for virgin foam in several applications:

• Furniture padding
• Domestic mattress
• Farming mattress
• Modular autoparts

Because density runs from 50kg/m3 to 300kg/m3, confirm the density, dimensions and performance requirements for your application with the supplier. Rebonded blocks can be cut to shape, so a buyer can specify a finished profile rather than trimming it in-house. Why the Loop Stays Closed

Offcuts from a cutting line become chips, chips become a block, That is the practical value of the loop: because rebonded foam is 100% recyclable, recovered foam can re-enter production as feedstock, which reduces the volume of virgin foam a factory needs to buy.

Most disputes in foam scrap come from specifications that were never written down. Confirm these before freight is arranged:

• Grade and exact skin percentage
• Color: black, white or mixed
• Density in kg/m3
• Bale weight, expected in the 200-300kg range
• Container loading target and port, Shenzhen or Guangzhou
• Payment method: T/T, L/C, D/P D/A, MoneyGram, Credit Card, Western Union or Cash
